Ohio State Gets Fortunate Spot On 4th Down, Scores On Next Play

first_imgOhio State gets a fortunate 4th down call.If you’re a Michigan fan, you’ve heard this one before. College football fans are debating whether Ohio State made the yard to gain on an important fourth down play on Saturday. The Buckeyes are currently in a dog fight with Minnesota, and if it weren’t for a fortunate spot, fans would be even more worried than they currently are. The play came late in the first quarter.Facing a 4th-and-2 from Minnesota’s 44-yard-line, Dwayne Haskins handed the ball off to running back Mike Weber, who lunged for the first down. Weber was seemingly stopped short of the line – at least on television.Weber’s rush was ruled a first down. The play was not reviewed. Here are two angles. This was ruled a first down on 4th down. Looked like #Gophers got the stop. #Buckeyes score on the next play. pic.twitter.com/BOeZKOAUd0— Dustin Schutte (@SchutteCFB) October 13, 2018And people wonder why Ohio State gets so much hate. This isn’t even close to a first down. pic.twitter.com/3YsNJgJvle— Drew (@DJDrewTheJet) October 13, 2018Tough spot for Minny on 4th and 1. They gave OSU the 1st down. Next play, touchdown. pic.twitter.com/0EvkodMhmw— Freezing Cold Takes (@OldTakesExposed) October 13, 2018From my press-box eyes, that was quite the generous spot on the fourth-down Weber run.— Bill Rabinowitz (@brdispatch) October 13, 2018Ohio State scored on the next play when Haskins found Terry McLaurin for a 41-yard score.Despite the score, Minnesota currently leads the game, 14-10.Ohio State, currently 6-0 on the season, needs this one to keep pace in the Big Ten – and the College Football Playoff picture.
